Sint Maartin

Renowned for its fabulous beaches, St-Martin is also a place of fascinating cultural, natural and human interest. Perfect weather and a well preserved natural environment, the island offers year-round, a wide assortment of nautical sports and outdoor activities. Warm sunny days, turn into balmy seductive evenings, while the ever-present spectacular scenery will take your breath away. These are just a few of the reasons why St-Martin enjoys a quite unique atmosphere, so typically Caribbean. Famous for its “Duty-free” shops, the island also seduces visitors with its hospitable, friendly people, incredible dining experiences and an animated nightlife. Its unique and distinct identity will charm you completely, thus making St-Martin, THE best sunshine get-away!

St-Martin enjoys sub-tropical weather, hot and sunny, all year round with average daily temperatures well around 28 C in the summer. Gladly, the blowing trade winds temper things off, making it more than bearable.

Thanks to its tropical weather and balmy breeze, St-Martin's main attraction remains, its fabulous beaches. All the usual outdoor activities are offered here but the wide offering of water sports, easily stands out as nothing less than excellent. Scuba diving and snorkelling are a must of course, but so are sailing and wind-surfing. For those seeking a completely different type of sporting event, the island is world-renowned as a veritable shopping mecca as most shops offer duty-free pricing on their merchandise. Gamblers will be thrilled by either one the 13 casinos found on the Dutch side of the island. Beautiful sites and interesting things to do can please all travellers' expectations on this Caribbean get-away but do pay particular attention to the food! The culinary experience, enriched by a flavourful, cultural blend like no other, is one of this small island's greatest treasures, where tradition meets innovation in a wonderful way. From the most distinguished restaurants, to smaller bistros, local hangouts and beach diners all seem to weigh-in in making St-Martin, the gastronomy capital of the Caribbean. After dark, this place reveals another famous side of its exciting personality… After a fine meal, why not hit one of the many night clubs where the soul of this tropical paradise takes to the dance floor to the sound of wild calypso bands and a variety of other beats, to make the party last, long into the night.

Synonymous with tropical paradise, the island's scenery is nothing short of extraordinary. Walk around the many splendored sites of the island. Marvel at all the colours, the flowers, the wonderful people and their fascinating history and culture. Your head will be filled with simple magical moments like sinking your teeth into a fresh, juicy mango or drinking the invigorating water from a coconut from local vendors making this island a truly unique destination in the Caribbean. It is ideal for those seeking a certain European style and flair, while still getting immersed completely in a tropical, relaxed atmosphere. Noticeable stops on the French side are: Grand Case, Marigot, Orient Bay and Anse Marcel.

There is no border as such between the French and Dutch sides of the island. French is spoken on the Saint-Martin side, while Dutch is the language used on the other part of the island known as Saint-Marteen, with English being understood and spoken throughout the island. Merchandise and people circulate freely between both sides. People here enjoy a slow and easy living, in a totally relaxed atmosphere. Saint-Martin's French side is a perfect blend of Caribbean culture with a touch of European style and class. If quiet, pristine beaches with modern, elegant amenities and service, with extraordinary culinary experiences, are what you have long waited for…well, wait no more! Paradise is here, and waiting for you.
