This day will be devoted to the discovery of Cape Town, nicknamed “the mother city”. You will visit the Castle of Good Hope, the Company Garden, the Malay district of Bo-Kaap and its multicolored houses, then you will meet one of its inhabitants, who will welcome you to his home. Dinner in one of the neighborhood restaurants. Afterwards, ascent of Table Mountain by cable car*, which offers a breathtaking view of the city, the port and the bay. Return, then dinner and night at the hotel. *If weather conditions permit.
Start exploring the Cape Peninsula with a cruise to Duiker Island departing from the port of Hout Bay*. This island is a sanctuary for thousands of fur seals and a multitude of seabirds, such as Cape gannets, cormorants and seagulls. Afterwards, drive to the Cape of Good Hope nature reserve. On arrival, visit the reserve with its landscapes, its fauna and its flora, which make this place a unique place in the world. You will have dinner at a local restaurant before continuing to Boulders Beach. In this place that has become a paradise for birds, you can see, among other things, a colony of Cape penguins. Continue with the discovery of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the former docks of Cape Town transformed into a commercial and cultural center. You will have dinner in one of the marina's restaurants before returning to your accommodation. Night at the hotel. *If weather conditions permit.
Departure for an orientation tour of the charming town of Stellenbosch with the church square and the small narrow streets, which recall the European atmosphere and architecture. Continue with a visit to the cellars including a wine and cheese tasting as well as the discovery of local techniques used to make a bunch of grapes into an internationally renowned quality wine. You will dine on the property. You will then be transferred to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Durban. On arrival, welcome, then route to your accommodation. Dinner in an Indian restaurant. Night at the hotel.
In the morning, explore the city of Durban including Golden Mile, the liveliest waterfront in the country with its many attractions and entertainment. Durban, nicknamed the “spice city”, is a city with a strong Indian influence. You will discover the town hall, the incredible Indian market with a thousand flavors and the mosque. You will then visit the Botanical Garden. Dinner in town in a restaurant, then free afternoon. Afterwards, return, free dinner and night at the hotel.
Journey to the Saint Lucia estuary. Upon arrival, board the boat for a cruise to discover the rich heritage of this park, classified as a UNESCO world natural heritage site. Dear ornithologists, or simple fans of local wildlife, prepare to discover more than a hundred different bird species as well as hippos and crocodiles. You will have dinner on board the boat before returning to the port to take the road towards Hluhluwe. On arrival, installation, then dinner and night at the lodge.
Wake up early and depart for a 4x4 safari to Zulu Nyala or Hluhluwe Game Reserve*. Large herds of impala, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo as well as giraffes, leopards, hyenas and cheetahs thrive within this vegetation spread over 4,500 hectares. Return to the lodge and breakfast. You will continue with the discovery of Lavumisa. You will discover lush fields of sugar cane and the immensity of the savannah, where Swazi villages are scattered. You will have dinner in a local restaurant before returning to the accommodation. On arrival, installation, then free time. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. *Subject to availability.
After breakfast, you will explore the Swazi candle making workshops in the village of Malkerns. During the week, you can see the artists at work there. Discovery of the Happy Valley, where you can stroll through the small markets and admire local crafts. Visit to the Ngwenya glassworks, a company carrying out a real social function. Entrepreneurs are responsible for collecting glass and bringing it to the glassworks in exchange for a fee, a way of combining environmental protection and economic development. Afterwards, you will enjoy a traditional dinner at a local restaurant. You will continue the day with the discovery of the cultural village of Matsamo, an educational place which offers visitors an introduction to the culture and traditions of the Swazi people. The visit will combine dance performance and traditional folk songs. During this exploration, you will have the opportunity to interact with the villagers about their agricultural work, their culture and traditions or even crafts. Road to Kruger then, on arrival, accommodation for one night. At the end of the afternoon, departure for your 4x4 safari at sunset, during which a South African aperitif (Amarula) will be served. Return to the lodge then dinner and overnight.
Go on a 4x4 safari in the heart of the famous Kruger National Park. With more than 12,000 elephants, 27,000 buffaloes and 1000 leopards, the famous “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo) are well represented. The Kruger is home to 147 species of mammals, 517 species of birds and six different ecosystems. The 4x4 vehicle allows you to approach the vegetation while your experienced ranger tracks fresh tracks. At the end of the morning, a stop at one of the park's rest camps will allow you to stretch your legs, freshen up and dine in one of the site's restaurants. Then route to your accommodation in . Arrival and installation for 2 nights. Dinner and overnight at the lodge afterwards.
Breakfast. then departure to the Haziview Elephant Sanctuary where you can visit the premises and interact with the magnificent creatures it hosts. Depending on availability, dinner will be taken at the sanctuary or at the lodge. Rest of free time at the lodge to enjoy the environment and refresh yourself. Dinner and night at the lodge.
Departure to explore the Blyde River canyon, approximately 800 meters deep. You will be able to see hippos, crocodiles or even certain bush animals wandering at the foot of the canyon, such as impalas. On the panoramic route, you can enjoy the view of the major sites of God's Window and the Three Rondavels. Afterwards, you will have dinner at a local restaurant before heading to Pilgrim’s Rest. This former gold mining village has been classified as a historic monument. Its houses were restored, revealing a ghost town, mirroring a page in the history of South Africa. Then, drive to your accommodation. On arrival, installation, dinner and night at the hotel.
In the morning, you will take the road to Middelburg, where The Corn and Cob farm is located. On arrival, visit this incredible place followed by free time giving you the opportunity to discover for yourself the village of the Ndébélé people, located a few steps from the farm. Afterwards, you can enjoy a good dinner in the heart of the farm. Then, you will take the road towards Pretoria to enjoy a panoramic tour of the city. Then, transfer to your accommodation in Johannesburg. Dinner at Le Carnivore restaurant and night at the hotel.
Journey to the largest city in the country. You will first visit the Apartheid Museum. Then, you will have dinner in one of the city's shebeens. This name is given to a type of local restaurant that was once a speakeasy. You will continue with a visit to the Nelson Mandela Museum before enjoying free time (depending on flight schedules). Then, transfer to Johannesburg airport for your return flights to Montreal.
