Located in the southeastern part of Cuba, Holguin is a prime destination due to its high temperature, even in winter. Beachgoers meet in Guardalavaca, around 40 km from Holguin, where most of the hotels are. The crystal clear waters as well as the white sand are breathtaking!
Take advantage of your stay in sunny Holguin to swim with dolphins at the Dolphinarium, where you could also attend a lion or dolphin show. Nothing better for the pleasure of the young and old!
Although Holguin is not the go-to destination for snorkeling, it is still popular due to the corals that are quite close to the beach. Often, you can find some directly in front of the hotel. Your snorkeling excursion will certainly make you discover a host of hidden treasures!
A true gem, Santiago de Cuba has an extremely rich historical heritage. It is the second largest city in Cuba and tens of thousands of visitors go there each year to learn more about its history and culture. Since it's only about two hours from Holguin... you must not miss it!

The currency used in Cuba is the Cuban peso. Canadian travelers are advised to bring Canadian dollars (paper only) or U.S. dollars, which can be exchanged on site for local currency.
Voltage is 220V in most hotels. If your devices only work on 110V, be sure to bring a converter.
Electrical outlets are generally able to accommodate flat plugs (such as those used in North America) and round pin plugs (such as those used in Europe). On the other hand, remember that some older hotels can only take round pin plugs. Please remember to bring a power adapter and a converter.
