The country's official currency is the Dominican Peso (DOP). U.S. dollars and credit and debit cards are also accepted at tourist resorts. Remember to communicate the dates of your stay in the Dominican Republic to your banking institution if you plan to use your cards on the island.
Electrical outlets used in the Dominican Republic are the same as in Canada. However, voltage and frequency may differ depending on the hotel. If your devices do not have the words: INPUT: 100-240V, 50/60Hz, plan ahead and bring a converter.
