Currency

The country's currency is the Moroccan dirham. It is important to know that it cannot be converted outside the country. We advise you to exchange only the amount of money you need, as it is illegal to take dirhams out of Morocco. It will be possible, when you leave the country, to convert the remaining dirhams into Canadian money. You can do this at the airport exchange office, as long as you show proof of your original currency purchase.

Official language

Morocco's official languages are Berber and Classical Arabic. Before you go, learn a few words and phrases in the local language to wow the locals!

Voltage

You will need a power adapter and maybe a converter. Electrical outlets used in Morocco are not the same as in Canada. Voltage is 220V and frequency is 50Hz. Make sure that your devices mention the words: "INPUT: 100-240V, 50/60Hz". Otherwise, you will need a converter.
