Venice (Part 2)

You will certainly fall under the spell of this amazing city, just as I did. Full of canals, little bridges, squares and alleyways, absolute calm.

Upon arriving by boat on the island of Venice, I was captivated by the view. Finding myself on a floating city is also quite surprising! And, I must admit, the Italian accent is truly charming and exotic.

To find peace and quiet, venture off the beaten path, away from the touristy St. Mark's Square. Yes, the basilica boasts beautiful mosaics, and there are plenty of terraces, souvenir shops, and luxury boutiques around it, but be warned, the prices are exorbitant! Expect to pay at least 10 euros for a simple coffee!

I loved finding my way, getting lost, turning back, and walking at my own pace. Venice ideally requires four days to soak up its different neighborhoods and atmospheres. I particularly loved Cannaregio with its Jewish quarter and the Rialto Bridge. It's home to a very colorful market, which I loved (with a bonus view of the Grand Canal!). Around the bridge, there are many cafes, workshops, and all kinds of shops. It's from here that boats depart for the islands of Murano and Burano, with their colorful houses. The Dorsoduro district is also very pleasant with its magnificent view of the lagoon.

A little tip: be careful with the gondoliers, they change their prices depending on the passenger. Avoid departures from St. Mark's Square, they're the most expensive!
