Those who know me and follow me on my other platforms ( my blog and/or my Instagram accounts @JessicaPrdnc and @TouteDansMesFesses ) know that I am a true food lover.
One of the things I love most about traveling is discovering the culinary specialties of the places I visit. Traveling through food is special and a true pleasure in life. During my trip to Panama, I had to try as many local dishes as possible! So, I've put together a short list of things to eat and drink during your next stay in Panama.

Things to know before traveling to Panama
Here are the dishes you should absolutely try on your next trip to Panama:
Plantains are a type of banana that are widely eaten in the Caribbean, Africa, and South America. They can be eaten cooked (plátano hervido) or fried (plátano frito), flattened or sliced. They're delicious!
Hopefully you're not vegetarian, because this dish is made with marinated pork and is usually served with white rice. Very tasty and affordable!
Who doesn't love cheese? These arepas (corn tortillas) are filled with cheese (typically mozzarella cheese) and are among the typical snacks eaten in Colombia, but also in Panama.
Without a doubt my favorite snack during my trip to Panama! They are small fried dough cakes that are usually served at lunch.
No, I'm not talking about the plant of the same name. Yucca is cassava! We eat a lot of it in Panama. Whether boiled or fried (a bit like thick fries), it's served with fish or meat.
It's not really a meal or a food item, but rather a well-known snack sold on the streets of Panama City. A raspado is crushed ice topped with sweet syrup and condensed milk. It's essentially a snow cone, but taken to another level. Obviously, you need a sweet tooth to enjoy it… but it's definitely a must-try!
There are a plethora of great local beers in Panama, but I fell in love with Balboa. It's a pale lager with a slight bitterness and a pronounced flavor. Perfect for enjoying on a patio or by the beach!
Of course, fish and seafood are also very popular in Panama. So, trying a good ceviche or a delicious fresh fish dish is a must.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
