What to do in Honduras

Capital city: Tegucigalpa

The capital of Honduras seduces vacationers with a friendly local population and typical small pastel painted houses. Tegucigalpa is a busy city located in the middle of a mountain range. There are several interesting buildings to visit, such as the Universidad Nacional former amphitheater, now converted into an art gallery called the UNAH Center for Art and Culture, the Casa Presidencial and the city’s first church, the Iglesia de San Francisco.

Beaches and diving

The best spots for diving are certainly the Islas de la Bahía, Cayos Cochinos and Roatán, where you can swim among the coral reefs. There are also beautiful beaches near Tela and Trujillo. Don't forget your waterproof camera!

Copán, Mayan ruins

Copán was originally a Mayan city. There are still several ruins that are more than 1,400 years old. Among the most popular areas are the ball court, the hieroglyphic staircase and the acropolis. The archaeological site is vast and open. We highly recommend wearing a hat on sunny days.

Colonial remains of Comayagua

Comayagua is the former capital of Honduras. Located in the center of the country, it is home to many vestiges of its colonial past. This city is rich with history and is well worth a visit.

Jeanette Kawas National Park

Formerly known as Punta Sal National Park, this ocean reserve is an untouched haven. There you will find a small rainforest, beaches and reefs. This place is perfect for travelers looking for an adventure and in search of wildlife.
