Akumal Bay Beach And Spa Resort

The best things about it in my opinion: - Small, human-scale hotel (not a place to party or meet people) - Natural site teeming with local fauna and flora: lizards, coatis, turtles, birds, flowers, etc. - Easy snorkeling right in front of the beach - turtles, a multitude of exotic fish, corals, rays, etc. - or with Akumal Dive Center, which is next to the hotel - Efficient and personalized customer service in the restaurants, bars, and lobby - Good variety of dishes offered at the à la carte restaurants and cocktails - Charming village of Akumal within walking distance - Professional guided yoga and meditation sessions held in a specially designed outdoor hut (approximately 6 sessions per day) - Other activities: paddleboarding with a guide, Mexican-themed day, morning pool aerobics, and a painting workshop (not to be missed) - Ground-floor rooms have direct beach access (blocks 3-4) - Smart TV with built-in apps (for bad weather) and toiletries made with Mexican honey Please note: - Some room amenities could be modernized/refreshed (e.g., toilet, jacuzzi/shower faucets, safe) - The musty smell, while typical of Mexico, is particularly strong due to the wooden furniture - Very little entertainment/activities organized by the hotel other than those described above - Lack Full-size mirror in the room - Taste and refinement of the food not always consistent from day to day (this is not a so-called "gastronomic" establishment) - There was no hot water for showering two nights during our stay

- Hôtel de petite taille à échelle humaine (pas un endroit pour fêter ni faire des rencontres)
- Site naturel débordant de faune et flore locales: lézards, coatis, tortues, oiseaux, fleurs, etc.
- Plongée libre (snorkeling) facile juste devant la plage - tortues, multitude de poissons exotiques, coraux, raies, etc. - ou avec Akumal Dive Center qui est voisin de l'hôtel
- Service à la clientèle efficace et personnalisé aux restaurants, bars et lobby
- Bonne variété des plats proposés aux restaurants à la carte et des cocktails
- Charmant village d'Akumal à distance de marche
- Séances de yoga et méditation guidée professionnelles organisées dans hutte aménagée à cet effet en plein air (environ 6 séances par jour)
- Autres activités: possibilité de paddle avec guide, journée thématique mexicaine, aérobie piscine le matin et atelier de peinture (à ne pas manquer)
- Chambres situées au RDC ont un accès à la plage direct devant (bloc 3-4)
- Télévision intelligente avec applications intégrées (si mauvais temps) et produits d'hygiène à base de miel mexicain
À savoir:
- Certains équipements dans les chambres pourraient être modernisés/rafraîchis (ex. toilette, robinetterie jacuzzi/douche, coffret de sûreté)
- L'odeur d'humidité, bien que typique du Mexique, est particulièrement puissante vu mobilier de bois
- Très peu d'animation/activités organisées par l'hôtel outre celles décrites ci-dessus
- Manque miroir pleine grandeur dans la chambre
- Goût et raffinement de la nourriture pas toujours constants d'un jour à l'autre (ce n'est pas un établissement dit « gastronomique »)
- Il n'y avait pas d'eau chaude pour se doucher 2 soirs durant notre séjour

Despite the sargassum seaweed on the beach and a lot of rocks in the water, it's a very nice hotel.

Super quiet hotel. Fantastic staff. Room facing the sea. Gorgeous tropical gardens. À la carte restaurants without reservations. Excellent food.

Welcoming and helpful staff. A hotel of manageable size. Good food overall.

The bus journey was too long, taking 2.5 hours to arrive at the hotel. The route was poorly organized.
