Barcelo Bavaro Palace

Romantic trip in September. 5th time in the Dominican Republic, staying at different resorts. Here are my comments for a 5-star resort: - Food: The buffet lacked variety, and since we avoid lettuce based on past experience, this greatly limited our choices. The à la carte restaurants (Santa Fe, Dolce Vita, Mexicò Lindo, and Kyoto) were all excellent, with a personal preference for the Italian one :) - Room: We had a room overlooking the artificial lake and the golf course. The view was beautiful, but the lake smelled awful. The room was dated, and while housekeeping is done daily, it's the bare minimum. It's clean, but nothing more, even with the tip. However, the bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning was perfect. The shower water temperature fluctuated. - The restrooms at the resort are getting old. Some soap dispensers are crooked, and some don't work, as do several sinks. - The pools are large and beautiful, although several tiles are missing. The water was the perfect temperature and the hot tubs were really enjoyable! - Beach: eroded and lots of sargassum seaweed. The first day, the water was completely brown. The following days, it was clearer, but sargassum was floating around us, so it wasn't very pleasant. The water was very warm. - Odors on the site. Coming from the beach, but also from the artificial pools. - Lots to do and see. Very large site with a little train, or for those who like to walk, it's perfect. The children's pools are magnificent, and Pirate Island with the big ship and the wave pool seemed fun and very beautiful to see. - The staff: Very variable. Some are smiling and friendly, while others are rude. The entertainment staff walk around with TripAdvisor and Google maps and absolutely insist that we leave them a positive review on social media. One woman actually sat on the edge of my chair and waited for me to face her, even though I hadn't seen her all week. I didn't appreciate that. On my birthday, a delicious little cake was waiting for me in my room :) So overall, the weather, the pools, and the à la carte restaurants were our favorites. The room, the buffets, and the beach were our slight disappointments, but all in all, we enjoyed our stay but will choose a different hotel for our next trip :)

Voyage d’amoureux en septembre. 5e fois en République Dominicaine à différents resorts. Voici mes commentaires pour un resort 5 étoiles:

- Nourriture : Le buffet manque de variétés et comme nous évitons la laitue par expérience passée cela limitait beaucoup les choix. Les restaurants à la carte (Santa Fe, Dolce Vita, Mexicò Lindo et le Kyoto) étaient tous excellents avec une préférence personnelle pour l’italien :)
- chambre: nous avions une chambre avec vue sur le lac artificiel donnant sur le golf. Très belle vue mais le lac sent vraiment mauvais. Chambre vieillotte et le ménage est fait tous les jours mais le strict minimum. C’est propre mais rien de plus et ce, malgré le pourboire. Par contre le lit était très confortable et la climatisation parfaite. La température de l’eau de la douche varie.
- Les toilettes sur le resort se font vieilles. Certains distributeurs à savon sont croches et certains ne fonctionnent pas, tout comme plusieurs lavabo.
- Les piscines sont grandes et belles bien que plusieurs tuiles sont arrachées. L’eau était à une température parfaite et les bains à remous étaient vraiment plaisant!
- Plage: érodée et beaucoup de sargasses. Le premier jour, l’eau était carrément brune. Les jours suivants, elle était plus claire, mais des sargasses flottaient autour de nous donc pas très plaisant. L’eau était très chaude.
- odeurs sur le site. Provenant de la plage, mais aussi des bassins d’eau artificiels.
- Beaucoup de choses à faire et à voir. Très grand site avec un petit train ou pour ceux qui aiment marcher c’est parfait. Les piscines pour enfants sont magnifiques et le Pirate Island avec le gros bateau et la piscine à vagues semblaient être amusants et très beaux à voir.
- Le personnel: Très variable. Certains sont souriants et sympathiques alors que d’autres sont bêtes. Les gens de l’animation se promènent avec des cartes de trip advisor et google et veulent absolument que nous leur fassions un commentaire positif sur les réseaux. Une s’est carrément assise sur le bout de ma chaise et a attendu que je leur fassions fasse devant elle alors que je ne l’avais pas vue de la semaine. Je n’ai pas aimé cette approche.

Le jour de ma fête un petit gâteau délicieux m’attendait à la chambre :)

Donc en général, la température, les piscines et les restaurants à la carte ont été nos coups de coeur. ‘A chambre, les buffets et la plage ont été nos légères déception, mais somme tout, nous avons aimé notre séjour mais choisirons un autre hôtel pour le prochain voyage :)

The site is too vast, the buffet is repetitive, and the activities are concentrated in a single central area opposite the main lobby, making for a very long walk if you're at one end of the site, which stretches for about a mile and a half. At the à la carte restaurants, you feel rushed to eat, regardless of the reservation time.

Site trop vaste, buffet redondant, activité à un seul endroit centré vis à vis le lobby principal, sa fait très long à marcher si vous êtes à l’extrémité du site qui est étendu sur 1milles 1/2 de long environ. Les restaurants à la carte, on se sent bousculés pour manger, quelques que soit l’heure de réservation.

Overall, a lovely hotel with good, varied restaurants. The beach is short and, at this time of year, there's seaweed, but the hotel does its best to remove it. The only downside is the waiters; they operate like headless chickens... but seeing their manager around, not far away, it's hardly any better. It seems like they've never had any formal training in customer service.

En general, belle hotel avec de bons resto variés . La plage est courte avec en cette période la présence d' algues mais l'hotel en fait le retrait du mieux qu'il peuvent. Le seule hic serait concernant les serveurs , ils fonctionnent comme des poules sans tête ....mais a voir leur chef en présence pas très loi. fonctionner :ce n' est guère mieux . On dirait qu'ils n' ont jamais eu de formation dans le service.

This hotel has a beautiful, calm, clean, and very long beach perfect for walking. It's a large resort, yes, a bit dated, but with a warm charm and gardens with mature palm trees. There are many à la carte restaurants as well as a very nice golf course. Excellent value for money, I love it!

Cet hôtel a une très belle plage calme ,propre et très longue pour marcher . Grand resort oui un peu vieillissant mais avec un cachet chaleureux et jardin , palmier mature . Beaucoup de restaurant à la carte ainsi qu’un très beau terrain de golf . Qualité prix j’adore

Overall, a very nice trip, a beautiful location, and the golf course is perfect. However, check-in was a bit chaotic and lengthy, but otherwise, the service was very good.

Très beau voyage dans l'ensemble, très beau site et le golf est parfait.
Pa contre l'enregistrement est un peu chaotique et long, pour le reste très bon service.
