Guests appreciate the magnificent white sand beach and turquoise water, as well as the excellent and varied cuisine at the à la carte restaurants. The staff is very welcoming and provides excellent service. Furthermore, the hotel and its grounds are impeccably clean, with lush vegetation and a serene atmosphere. The rooms are also considered spacious, clean, and comfortable. A few isolated observations were made, but no significant negative points emerged with any noticeable frequency.

One of the best adults-only hotels we visited.

A wonderful discovery! The Catalonia Royal Tulum is a luxury adults-only hotel. The beach, sargassum season aside, is magnificent. The hotel, although older, is spectacularly clean and well-maintained. Even though we had a standard room, it was spotless, comfortable, and chic in a Spanish style. The room was decorated in nautical and evening styles. The restaurants are delicious, and the enchanting setting, built in the jungle, gives it a unique charm. The staff is impeccable, friendly, and always ready to help. We will definitely return.

Excellent hotel, well located, well maintained
Excellent hotel, bien placé, bien entretenu
It was our first time at an all-inclusive resort. We weren't disappointed. We stayed for five days and everything went well. However, if we had stayed longer, the food in the evening restaurants would have been a major drawback. We're vegetarians, and there were very few options. After eating there once or twice, there was nothing new. Aside from that, which wasn't too much of a problem for us, everything else was perfect. Since it was our first time, we experienced some intense pressure to buy extra services at the beginning, but after refusing, they don't insist. Regarding excursions, I don't recommend the "free" one to visit Playa del Carmen. You'll spend four hours in an overpriced jewelry store and tequila shop for only an hour and a half in Playa del Carmen. It's better to take a colectivo (shared taxi) or use the InDrive app to get there on your own. The Rio Secreto/Tulum excursion is definitely worth it, but perhaps you could find a cheaper option on your own? As for the sea, well, there's a lot of sargassum seaweed. They're doing their best, but we only went swimming once and had to turn back because of it. It's best to go somewhere else to swim in the sea.
C'était notre première fois dans un tout inclus. Nous n'avons pas été déçus. Nous y sommes restés 5 jours et tout s'est bien passé, par contre si nous avions dû y rester plus longtemps, la nourriture dans les restaurants du soir aurait été le gros point faible. Nous sommes végétariens et il y avait très peu d'options. Après y avoir mangé une ou deux fois, il n'y avait rien de nouveau.

Comme c'était notre première fois, nous avons découvert la sollicitation très intense au début pour acheter des services en plus, mais après un refus, ils n'insistent pas.
Concernant les excursions, je vous déconseille celle "gratuite" pour aller visiter Playa Del Carmen. Vous allez passer 4h dans une bijouterie et un magasin de tequila overpriced pour seulement faire 1 h 30 à Playa Del Carmen. Il vaut mieux prendre le collectivo ou bien utiliser l'application InDrive pour s'y rendre par soi-même.
L'excursion Rio Secreto/Tulum vaut définitivement la peine, mais il y a peut-être moyen de trouver moins cher par soi-même ?
Sinon pour la mer, et bien plein de sargasses, ils font leur possible mais on ne s'est baigné qu'une fois et on a fait demi-tour à cause des algues. Le mieux c'est d'aller ailleurs pour se baigner dans la mer.

A very beautiful site, but generally below our expectations.
Très beau site, mais en général sous nos attentes
We were a "Privileged" guest for 14 days. Let's get this straight right away: the extra privilege isn't worth the cost. The rooms for Privileged guests are further from the beach than the others, and we didn't feel like we received any special treatment during our stay. Yes, the BLoved restaurant is very nice, but the other restaurants were just as good. There's nothing special at the bar; to access the best bottles, you have to be an Exclusive member. The drinks are okay, and there's only one type of beer (Modelo), which is very disappointing. Only the bottles reserved for Exclusive members are displayed, which seems nice. This means you end up drinking whatever the employee gives you, and it's not a big brand (often Bacardi). You get the feeling the hotel is trying to save money by not displaying the bottles and preventing guests from selecting the quality. By the way, there's no fresh juice bar. Most of the restaurants are very nice and very good; BLoved isn't any better, more or less on par with the others. The buffet is good, very simple, repetitive, and only available for lunch and dinner; the fact that it's closed for supper is disappointing. The sargassum seaweed on the beach is a disaster, although the staff work tirelessly to clean it up. By walking, it's possible to find an area with acceptable water for a few hours each day. There are too many chairs on the beach, and it's too crowded. The section reserved for "Privileged" guests is small and located right next to the mountain of decomposing sargassum being dumped by tractors. The hydrogen sulfide smell is present and unpleasant. We preferred to spend our time in the area accessible to everyone. It's worth mentioning that you have to move your chair frequently to find shade; there's a lack of palm trees. On a positive note, the staff are friendly and provide excellent service.
Nous étions durant 14 jours comme client « Privilégié ». Mettons ce point immédiatement au clair, l’extra privilège ne vaut pas le coût. Les chambres pour les privilégiés sont plus éloignées de la plage que les autres et nous n’avons pas eu l’impression d’avoir eu un traitement spécial lors de notre séjour. Oui le restaurant BLoved est très agréable, mais les autres restaurants l’étaient autant. Rien de spécial au Bar, pour avoir accès aux meilleures bouteilles il faut être membres Exclusifs.
More... Less...Les drinks sont ok et il y a qu’une sorte de bière (Modelo) ce qui est très décevant. Uniquement les bouteilles réservées aux Exclusifs sont visibles, cela parait bien. Cela fait en sorte que tu bois ce que l’employé te donne, et ce n’est pas de grandes marques (souvent Bacardi). On sent que l’hôtel veut économiser en n’affichant pas les bouteilles et éviter que les clients puissent sélectionner la qualité. En passant, le bar à jus frais n’existe pas.
La majorité des restaurants sont très beaux et très bons, le BLoved n’est pas meilleur, plutôt équivalent aux autres. Le buffet est bon, très simple, redondant et uniquement pour déjeuner et dîner, le fait d’être fermé pour le souper est décevant.
Les sargasses à la plage est un désastre, bien que les employés travaillent sans cesse pour nettoyer. En marchant il est possible de trouver une zone avec de l’eau acceptable durant quelques heures à chaque jour. Il y a trop de chaises à la plage et c’est trop serré. La section réservée pour les « Privilégiés » est petite et située juste à côté de la montagne de sargasses en décomposition déchargée par les tracteurs. Le sulfure d’hydrogène est présent et désagréable. Nous avons préféré passer notre séjour dans la zone accessible pour tous. Il faut mentionner qu’il faut déplacer fréquemment sa chaise pour avoir de l’ombre, il manque de palmiers.
Terminons avec le positif, les employés sont chaleureux et offrent un excellent service.
