El Cid La Ceiba Cozumel

I stayed there three times in two months, knowing they were closing for extensive renovations. I love the place, the staff, swimming in the sea, and the amazing food. The hotel is a bit dated but clean and functional. It's a relaxed and laid-back resort. The rooms are large and clean; some have kitchenettes, and others don't, as it's not exclusively all-inclusive. The kitchenette is well-equipped for preparing meals: a two-burner cooktop, range hood, refrigerator, sink, toaster, blender, coffee maker, and all the dishes you could possibly need. We were on an all-inclusive plan, so we ate our meals in the restaurant. For the last few weeks, we opted for the set menu, with the buffet available occasionally. There were breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, with plenty of choices to suit all tastes. The food is excellent. The staff are wonderful, funny, and kind, and they remember our preferences. The resort is right in front of the cruise ship docks, with different ships arriving every day—it's fascinating. In short, I would definitely go back again. I will try to follow the progress of the renovation work.

J'y ai fait 3 séjours en 2 mois, sachant qu'ils ferment pour longues rénovations. J'adore l'endroit, le personnel, la baignade dans la mer et la nourriture wow.
L'hôtel est vieillot mais propre et fonctionnel. Site relax et décontracté.
Grandes chambres propres, certaines ont des cuisinettes et d'autres pas, car ce n'est pas seulement en tout inclus. La cuisinette est bien équipée pour faire sa nourriture. Plaque 2 ronds, hotte, frigo, évier, grille-pain, mélangeur, cafetière, toute la vaisselle dont on peut avoir besoin.
Nous y étions en tout inclus donc nous avons pris nos repas au restaurant. Les dernières semaines, nous étions en mode menu, quelque fois il y avait le buffet. Menu déjeuner, menu dîner et menu souper, plein de choix et pour tous les goûts. La nourriture y est excellente.
Les employés sont des amours, drôles et gentils et se souviennent de nos préférences.
Le site est devant les quais de bateaux de croisières, bateaux différents chaque jour, c'est fascinant.
Bref, j'y retournerais encore. Je vais essayer de suivre l'évolution des travaux de rénovations.

I was pleasantly surprised by this small hotel. Initially, I knew there wasn't a beach. Access to the water is via ladders. Swimming is done while admiring the cruise ships. Cruise passengers buy a day pass to swim and eat there. It's a small hotel with 76 rooms, one swimming pool, and a jacuzzi. A bit dated but functional. The rooms have kitchenettes and everything you need to cook, as its primary purpose wasn't all-inclusive. You can book a room on its own without an all-inclusive package. The bathroom amenities are excellent; you won't want for anything. Beach towels are exchanged for cards. The atmosphere is relaxed, with plenty of lounge chairs and attentive staff. You can swim late into the evening; the pool closes around 10 pm, and you can even swim in the sea if it's calm. The restaurant is open all day from 7 am to 11 pm, and the food is excellent. In the morning, there's a buffet lunch, and then dinner is à la carte, with dozens of delicious choices. Dinner is a themed buffet. Room service is also available. We had a delicious buffet by the pool one lunchtime; you take your plate and can then eat in the restaurant or at your beach chair. There's chair service, so you don't have to get up to go to the bar. The public restrooms are cleaned frequently and are air-conditioned. The hotel shop is open until 11 pm. In short, I loved it and ate very well. We were right across from the cruise ship docks, seeing new ships every day and watching them arrive and depart. Magnificent! I would definitely go back and make it one of my favorites, but it will be closing around May 9, 2026, for renovations for at least a year. NB: There is an environmental tax to be paid of $2 to $7 USD per person per day and an additional tax of $15 USD per day per room.

J'ai été agréablement surprise de ce petit hôtel. Au départ, je savais qu'il n'y avait pas de plage. Descente à l'eau à l'aide d'échelles. La baignade se fait en admirant les bateaux de croisières. Les croisiéristes prennent une passe pour la journée pour y nager et y manger.
Petit hôtel de 76 chambres, 1 piscine et un jaccuzi. Vieillot mais fonctionnel. Chambre avec cuisinette et tout ce qu'il faut pour cuisiner car sa vocation principale n'était pas en tout inclus. On peut réserver la chambre seule sans forfait tout inclus. Très bons produits dans la salle de bain, on ne manque de rien. Serviette de plage à échanger avec des cartes.
Un site décontracté, chaises longues à profusion, personnel au petits soins.
On peut se baigner tard le soir, la piscine ferme vers 22h et dans la mer si elle est calme.
Le restaurant est ouvert toute la journée de 7h à 23h, la nourriture est excellente. Le matin, il y a buffet pour déjeuner ensuite le dîner se commande au menu, des dizaines de choix tous très bons. Ensuite buffet à thème pour le souper. On peut avoir le service à la chambre. On a eu un buffet sur le bord de piscine un midi, délicieux, on prend notre assiette et on peut aller manger dans le resto ou à notre chaise de plage. Il y a service aux chaises, pas besoin de se lever pour aller au bar. Les toilettes publiques sont nettoyées souvent et climatisées. La boutique de l'hôtel est ouverte jusqu'à 23h le soir.
Bref j'ai adoré et très bien mangé.
Nous sommes directement en face des quais de bateaux de croisière, nous en voyons des nouveaux chaque jour et assistons à leurs arrivées et départs. Magnifique!
J'y retournerais assurément et en ferais un de mes favoris, mais il va fermer vers le 9 mai 2026 pour rénovation pendant au moins 1 an.

NB: il y a la taxe d'environnement à payer de $2 à $7us par personne par jour et une taxe supplémentaire de $15us par jour par chambre.
