Magnificent hotel, I highly recommend it.
Magnifique hôtel , je recommande
The staff were incredibly friendly. The beach is magnificent. There was a good selection of food at the buffet. The beds were a little less comfortable (they were old). The rooms were very clean with excellent room service. I recommend it for those who love nature and greenery.

The dishwashing carts are noisy, and seeing food being thrown away while you eat is unappetizing and very unpleasant. The room wasn't spotless (dirt on the floor grout, cobwebs on the lamps, and mold in the shower), but the worst part was not having any shaded spots on the beach and having to get up at 6:00 a.m.! The à la carte restaurants had excellent service, and the food was delicious. The shows are less interesting than in previous years.
Les chariots pour débarrasser la vaisselle sont bruyants et on voit la nourriture jetée pendant que l’on mange c’est peu appétissant et très désagréable. La chambre n’était pas impeccable (saleté sur les joints du sol, toile d’araignée sur les lampes et moisissures sur la douche), mais le pire est de m’avoir aucune place à l’ombre à la plage et de devoir se lever à 6h00 le matin! Les restaurants à la carte avaient un excellent service et la nourriture était délicieuse. Les spectacles sont moins interessants que les années précédentes.

We stayed at El Portillo from July 22nd to 29th, and after three previous experiences at other resorts where we were forced to endure seas full of sargassum (our number one criterion is the beach), we were relieved to see how beautiful the beach is in this area. The beach is absolutely stunning, with snorkeling opportunities right in front of the hotel. Although the hotel is starting to show its age a bit, everything is spotless and well laid out. Everything is close by, and the atmosphere is ideal for young families or retired couples. The meals at the à la carte restaurants were one of the highlights of our stay.
Nous avons séjourné à El Portillo du 22 au 29 juillet et après 3 expériences antérieures dans d'autres resorts où nous avons été contraints à une mer pleine de sargasses, (notre critère numéro 1 est la plage) nous avons été soulagés de voir à quel point la plage est belle dans cette région. Plage MA-GNI-FI-QUE avec possibilité d'apnée juste en face de l'hôtel. Quoique l'hôtel commence à avoir de l'âge un peu, tout est hyper propre et bien configuré. Tout est à proximité et l'ambiance idéale pour de jeunes familles ou couples de retraités. Les repas aux restaurants à la carte ont été un des points ++ de notre séjour.

Superb hotel!
Superbe hotel!
The only downside is the cleanliness of the main pool. The food is good, there are plenty of activities on offer, and the rooms are clean. The beach is amazing! Perfect for a family trip!
