The 5-storey Bella Habana (Aeropuerto) hotel is a modern, Spartan comfort hotel-stage located in an administrative / residential area (HLM) facing the Bldg of Min of Agriculture on Conill at the corner of Boyeros (Independencia) south of the place of the Revolucion / bldg of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party; *** Boyeros Avenue is major, comprising (3 + 3) + (3 + 3) = 12 lanes for motor vehicles. *** The Bella Habana Hotel Nuevo Vedado is a 30-minute walk from the Plaza de la Revolucion, a 2-hour walk from Old Havana, a 2-hour walk from Club Tropicana (Show) in the Alturas de Belen at the South West. The nearest convenience store (with rums but no bottled water) is 5 minutes walk (CUPET service station) to the southeast. The nearest supermarket (with bottled water and food) is a 20-minute walk (Cienaga via Caldezza Puentes Grandes, to the southwest). This hotel is a stopover for 1 or 2 nights for hundreds of travelers (European or South American) in organized tours (coaches) staying there only to sleep and eat in the morning at 07am and then leave at 8am. Few people book more than 2 days. The hotel itself is NOT in a 'tourist' area. Positive: -caribesol secure area provided shuttle to and from airport (incl. -J1 lobby welcome with refreshing drink ... on hielo -Groom 'Livan' helpful and smiling -5 min walk to the picturesque market (with real restaurants for Cubans in MN) Tulipan on the corner of Marino (shopping in Moneda Nacional) - 5 min walk from CADECA and 2 ATMs from the same market (CAsa de CAmbio, to convert Canadian dollars to convertible CUCs then Moneda Nacional, but not get Canadian dollars) - 30 min walk from Necropolis / Vedado - plenty of special taxis and yellow taxis on Boyeros to go to Centro, Vedado or Capitolio / Parque Central; they stop in front of you. - serves as a starting point for the knowledgeable walker who wants to avoid staying in the tourist areas and who prefers to see the real life of Cubans -double phone phone (no bath); 80 cu. ft. 'Vacuum' Ceramic Vacuum Bath - 0.8 cu. ft. I still transported money and day passport on me money-belt -2 double beds / room ds rooms 421 and 422; minimal supplement for single room advantageous -Efficient window air conditioner; working window; good curtains. electrical 220 volts have a hole that accomode 'plugs' flat and round: no problem to connect CPAP device 120 / 220V -room well soundproofed room noise (TV) adjacent (but not the street) -43 channels of cable on flat screen RCA TV, BBC CNN, Chinese, TV5 World (UK) and everything else in Spanish. -Banco Metropolitano (cambio and ATM) and restaurant in MN (Kikoto) at 2 min at the south west corner Conill and Marino -1 lift (slow) functional -Suitable bed -Frank bustle (to eat Los Girasoles 50 seats) in the morning 07ham (crush) at 10ham still allows to satisfy a hungry man who takes his time; then no lunch necessary until supper, it is so hot + 85F outside, not the taste of big meal at noon. - A travel agency attendant offers organized tours in lobby (office at g between elevator and staircase) for a fee. -Stores of cigars and alcohols to d. when entering the lobby - smoke detector in rooms Negative: -Isolemently linguistic, physical and telephone. - Construction noise x 2 days in the morning (refurbishment, power tools, facade masonry / scaffolding) - Unilingual Spanish staff, fluent in Cuba, (good for immersion and learning) - Taxes needed to go to tourist areas, very distant (but little expensive: 3 CUC for 2 people, bargain) for the Capitolio because hotel is '' in the middle of nowhere ''. - The word Aeropuerto in the name of the Hotel refers to the fact that people can sleep there before taking the plane but the hotel is not ready from the airport, but between the tourist areas and the airport. - '' Fumigacion '' weekly (seen by me) rooms does not completely repress insects (3 killed in my room in 10 nights) -noise of traffic considerable street Boyeros from 06h am to 20h; not a problem unless you stay for the day in your room. a room facing Marino, rather than Conill or Boyeros, might be quieter. -no fridge in the room - 10 days short and short electricity supply - if breaker temporarily jumps - no water pressure in the pipes at night / in the morning 2 times in 10 days (no water); very hot water when pressure is available -Water at 1 CUC / 500mL (too expensive) at Isla Bella Lobby Bar. Buy at the Supermarket a 5L for 2CUC. -Buffet inconstant in quality (bacon x 2 days then 8 days without), low in quantity, dubious cleanliness; service of employees who are jaded cold; dining room with flies, street noise / diesel fumes. The presented foods (cut fruits, cheeses, meats, eggs, ...) are at room temperature (not in conformity because not refrigerated nor warmed) -Bar tiny of lobby, never frequented, with 3 places. (No jiniteras) -Snack bar attended by employees lobby to watch football matches. No sandwiches, snacks or chocolate. What popsicles, juice. sodas and alcohol. 24/24. Prices fluctuate according to daring Jiniteros attendants (the same popsicle yet posted at 1 CUC sometimes sells shamelessly at 2CUC, without receipt, -refuse) -Internet ds lobby near elevator (1 computer) requires $ Etecsa card. No wifi. - 422 room phone has a mute microphone (faulty) - room phones only allow internal calls; reception = # 100 (not shown!) -the cyber café room displayed in the lobby actually serves as a storeroom (stacked furniture overview), the cybercafe indicated does not exist. -Buffet breakfast does not advise to take a second meal a day. Dirty dining walls: fingerprints. -fire ds grill to eat (smoke +++) did not fire smoke detector yet located exactly above the ceiling! -External phone calls: not in the rooms; only possible with Etecsa card by public telephones located near each floor (to the knowledge of everyone); corollary: impossible to receive calls tel. ext, unless vs rent cell. -Access to the roof not secured, (if child explorer ...) -garden BBQ abandoned, no chair or shade -trop far from the Tropicana on foot; the walk south to 72 y 45 via Caldezza Puentes Grandes ds Alturas de Belen, although feasible, is only recommended for adventurers. We arrive at Tropicana so filthy and exhausted. Taxi via North / Vedado (26 then 23rd) for 10 CUC max is worth it.

L'Hôtel Bella Habana du Nuevo Vedado est à 30 minutes de marche de la Place de la Revolucion, à 2 heures de marche de la Vieille Havane, à 2 heures de marche du Club Tropicana (Show) dans les Alturas de Belen au sud-ouest.
Le dépanneur (avec rhums mais pas d eau embouteillée) le plus proche est à 5 minutes de marche (Station service CUPET)
au sudest. Le supermarché le plus proche (avec eau embouteillée et nourriture) est à 20 minutes de marche (Cienaga via Caldezza Puentes Grandes , au sud-ouest).
Cet hôtel est une étape pour 1 ou 2 nuits pour des centaines de voyageurs (Européens ou Sud-américains) en
Tours organisés (autocars) qui y restent que pour dormir et manger le matin à 07ham puis partir à 08h am.
Peu de gens y reservent plus de 2 jours.
L'hôtel comme tel n'est PAS dans un quartier ''touristique''. Positif : -quartier sécuritaire

-à 5 min de marche de la CADECA et 2 ATMs du même marché (CAsa DE CAmbio,pour convertir dollars canadiens en CUCs convertibles puis Moneda Nacional, mais pas obtenr de dollars canadiens)
-à 30 min de marche de la Nécropolis/Vedado
-amplement de taxis particular et taxis jaunes sur Boyeros pour aller vers Centro, Vedado ou Capitolio/Parque Central; ils s arrêtent devant vous.
-sert bien de point de départ pour le marcheur averti qui veut éviter de séjourner dans les quartiers touristiques et qui préfère voir la vraie vie des Cubains
-douche téléphone spacieuse (pas de bain); s de bain 'vide' , céramique, de 80 pi 2
-coffre fort électronique solide au mur de 0,8pi3; je transportais quand même argent et passeport de jour sur moi ds money clip ceinture

-chambre bien insonorisée des bruits de chambre (TV) adjacente (mais pas de la rue)
-43 chaines de cable sur TV RCA écran plat, BBC CNN, Chinese, TV5 monde(fr.) et tout le reste en espagnol.

-Buffet frugal (s à manger Los Girasoles de 50 places) du matin 07ham (cohue) à 10ham permet quand même de rassasier un homme affamé qui prend son temps ; alors pas de lunch nécessaire jusqu'au souper, il fait tellement chaud +85F dehors, pas le gout de gros repas le midi.
-Une préposée d'agence de voyage offre tours organisés ds lobby (bureau à g entre ascenseur et escalier) contre supplément.
-Magasins de cigares et alcools à d. en entrant ds lobby

-Bruits de construction x 2 jours le matin (réfection, outils électriques, maconnerie facade/échafaudages)
-Personnel unilingue espagnol, courant à Cuba, (bon pour immersion et apprendre)
-taxis nécessaires pour aller dans quartiers touristiques, très distants (mais peu cher: 3 CUC pour 2 personnes, marchander) pour le Capitolio car hôtel est ''au milieu de nulle part''.
-Le vocable Aeropuerto dans le nom de l'Hôtel réfère au fait que les gens peuvent y dormir avant de prendre l avion mais
l 'hôtel n est pas prêt de l'aéroport, mais entre les quartiers touristiques et l'aéroport.
-''Fumigacion'' hebdomadaire (vue par moi) des chambres ne réprime pas complètement les insectes (3 tués dans ma chambre en 10 nuits)
-bruit du traffic considérable de la rue Boyeros de 06h am à 20h; pas un problème à moins que vous restiez pour la journée dans votre chambre.
une chambre donnant sur Marino, plutôt que sur Conill ou Boyeros, serait possiblement plus calme.

-pannes d'électricité brèves et rares sur 10 jours/come si breaker saute temporairement
-aucune pression d'eau dans tuyaux la nuit/le matin à 2 reprises sur 10 jours (pas d eau); eau chaude très chaude quand pression disponible
-Eau à 1 CUC/500mL (trop chère) au snack bar Isla Bella du lobby. Acheter au Supermarché un 5L pour 2CUC.
-Buffet inconstant en qualité (bacon x 2 jours puis 8 jrs sans) , faible en quantité, propreté douteuse; service des employées blasées froid; salle à manger avec mouches, bruit de la rue/ vapeurs diesel. Les aliments présentés (fruits coupés, fromages, viandes, oeufs, ...) sont à la température de la pièce (non conformes car non réfrigérés ni réchauffés)
-Bar minuscule ds lobby, jamais fréquenté, à 3 places. (Pas de jiniteras)
-Snack bar fréquenté ds lobby par employés pour regarder les matchs de foot. Pas de sandwiches, grignotines ou chocolat. Que popsicles, jus. sodas et alcool. 24/24h. Prix fluctuent selon audace des préposés Jiniteros (le même popsicle pourtant affiché à 1 CUC se vend parfois éhontément à 2CUC, sans recu, -refuser)
-Internet ds lobby près ascenseur (1 ordi ) nécessite carte Etecsa $. Pas de wifi.
-téléphone ds chambre 422 a un microphone muet (fautif)
-téléphones ds chambres ne permettent que les appels internes; réception = #100(non indiqué!)
-la salle du cyber café affichée ds le lobby en fait sert de débarras (meubles empilés apercus) , le cybercafé indiqué n existe pas.
-buffet du petit dejeuner ne permet pas de conseiller d y prendre un 2e repas par jour. Murs de s à manger sales: empreintes de doigts.
-incendie ds grille pain de s à manger (fumée+++) n a pas déclenché détecteur de fumée pourtant situé exactement au dessus au plafond!
-appels téléph externes: pas dans les chambres; seulement possibles avec carte Etecsa par téléphones publics situés près assenseur à chaque étage (au su et au vu de tous); corollaire: impossible de recevoir appels tél. ext, sauf si vs louez cellulaire.
-Accès au toit non sécurisé, (si enfant explorateur...)
-jardin BBQ à l' abandon, sans chaise ni ombre
-trop loin du Tropicana à pied; la marche par le sud vers 72 y 45 via Caldezza Puentes Grandes ds Alturas de Belen bien que faisable, n est conseillé qu aux aventuriers. On arrive au Tropicana alors crasseux et fourbus. Taxi via le nord/Vedado (26 puis 23e) pour 10 CUC max en vaut la peine.
