Unfortunately, our experience was not what one would expect from a 4-star hotel. Upon arrival, there was no guidance or explanation of how the resort operated, unlike what we've experienced at other resorts. The room had several problems: no refrigerator, a patio door that was difficult to open (my partner even got stuck on the balcony because of a loose handle), and an electrical outlet protruding from the wall with exposed wires, which is a safety concern. The pillows were very uncomfortable, and when we asked for replacements, they were much the same. We didn't have washcloths on the first day. Room service was very inconsistent. We only received full service when we left a tip, and even then, the quality varied. The bed was very hard, and the blanket was rough and thin, more like decorative fabric than comfortable bedding. The curtains didn't block out the light, so the room remained lit even in the evening. In terms of activities, there were very few—sometimes only one per day. The food was adequate, but very repetitive. The reservation-only restaurant was also average. Alcoholic drinks varied greatly depending on who prepared them; there didn't seem to be any clear standard in the recipes. One evening, there was an almost complete food shortage. It's important to mention that during our stay, a major security operation took place in Puerto Vallarta following government action against a cartel. The hotel was placed under temporary lockdown: no one could enter or leave. Staff had to remain on-site, and no new supplies could be delivered. This affected service, as well as the availability of food and alcohol. This exceptional situation is understandable, but it still had a significant impact on our experience. On the plus side, the beach was beautiful and clean. However, the current was very strong, making swimming difficult and sometimes impossible. In summary, several aspects related to maintenance, comfort, and organization fell short of a 4-star standard. Despite some positive aspects, our stay was very mixed.

À notre arrivée, aucun encadrement ni explication sur le fonctionnement du site, contrairement à ce que nous avons connu dans d’autres resorts. La chambre présentait plusieurs problèmes : aucun réfrigérateur, porte patio difficile à ouvrir (mon conjoint est même resté coincé sur le balcon en raison d’une poignée lousse), une prise électrique sortait du mur avec les fils apparents, ce qui est préoccupant au niveau de la sécurité. Les oreillers étaient très inconfortables, et lorsqu’on en a demandé d’autres, c’était sensiblement la même chose. Nous n’avions pas de débarbouillettes la première journée.

Le service aux chambres était très inconstant. Nous avons eu un service complet seulement lorsque nous laissions un pourboire, et même là, la qualité variait. Le lit était très dur, la couverture était rêche et mince, davantage comme un tissu décoratif que de literie confortable. Les rideaux ne bloquaient pas la lumière, donc la chambre restait éclairée même le soir.

Au niveau des activités, il y en avait très peu — parfois une seule par jour. La nourriture était correcte, mais très répétitive. Le restaurant à réservation était moyen également. Les boissons alcoolisées variaient beaucoup selon la personne qui les préparait; il ne semblait pas y avoir de standard clair dans les recettes.

Un soir, il manquait presque complètement de nourriture. Il est important de mentionner que durant notre séjour, une importante opération de sécurité a eu lieu à Puerto Vallarta à la suite d’interventions gouvernementales contre un cartel. L’hôtel a été placé en confinement temporaire : personne ne pouvait entrer ni sortir. Le personnel a dû rester sur place et aucun nouvel approvisionnement ne pouvait être livré. Cela a affecté le service, la disponibilité de la nourriture et de l’alcool. Cette situation exceptionnelle est compréhensible, mais elle a tout de même eu un impact significatif sur notre expérience.

Point positif : la plage était belle et propre. Cependant, le courant marin était très fort, ce qui rendait la baignade difficile et parfois impossible.

En résumé, plusieurs éléments liés à l’entretien, au confort et à l’organisation ne correspondent pas à un standard 4 étoiles. Malgré certains aspects positifs, notre séjour a été très mitigé.

Everything at the buffet is always cold, very repetitive, and not very tasty.

Absolutely terrible… If you're in Quebec and planning to spend your vacation there, avoid it… There's only one à la carte restaurant (you have to book 24 hours in advance and it's Asian), otherwise it's the buffet (which is supposedly the other à la carte restaurant, the Italian one) which isn't very impressive… no choice, food not hot… no pasta options (pasta bar, they don't exist…) no grilled options either… The lobby staff are very ordinary, not adventurous at all… We waited 15 minutes in the wrong line (no clear directions) for check-out and were moved to another line, only to be sent back to him because he "had" time to serve me… No information on what time our transportation would pick us up and they didn't even bother to find out. The bartenders at the pool/beach bar are the only positive thing, super friendly. The rooms are okay, but the soundproofing is terrible… You can hear everything that goes on in the hallway… and don't expect the elevators to be fast either. In short, I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to be in the vast minority and get stared at by the other hotel guests. Oh, and I almost forgot, don't even think about getting a chair by the pool 🤣

Horrible dessus… Si vous êtes Québec et que vous pensez passer vos vacances la bas, à éviter… 1 seule restaurant à la carte (doit être réservé 24 heures avant et c’est un asiatique) sinon c’est Buffet (qui est supposément l’autre restaurant à la carte aussi, l’italien) qui est pas très WoW… pas de choix, nourriture pas chaude… pas de choix de pâtes (bar a pâtes, ça n’existe pas…) pas de choix de grillades non plus… Les employés du lobby sont ben ordinaire, pas advent du tout… Nous avons attendu 15 minutes dans la mauvaise ligne (pas d’indications claires) pour le Check out et nous faire changer de ligne pour finalement me faire revenir à lui parce qu’il « avait » le temps de me servir… Aucune information sur quelle heure notre transport allait venir nous chercher et ils ont pas chercher à savoir non plus. Les barmans du bar de la piscine/plage sont à peu près le positif, super gentil. Les chambres sont correct, mais très mal insonorisés… On entend tout ce qui se passe dans le corridor… pis les ascenseurs, attendez vous pas a quelques choses de rapide non plus. Bref, je vous le conseille pas, à moins de vouloir être en grosse minorité et vous faire dévisager par les autres occupants de l’hôtel. A et j’oubliais, pensez même pas avoir une chaise proche de la piscine 🤣
