Formerly known as Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda, the hotel has changed its name to Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda effective March 26, 2026.

The Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda in Punta Cana is a luxurious hotel ideal for a stay with friends or family. It is located directly on a white sand beach, approximately 25 km from Punta Cana Airport. This 5-star all-inclusive resort is a wonderful place with a variety of activities and suites, including spacious suites and suites with direct pool access.

Spend your days between the stunning beach and one of the many pools, with bars nearby. Children have their own pools and an amazing water park. Drop them off at the Miniclub (ages 4-12) and enjoy some quality adult time at the hotel spa ($) or play a round of golf on the nearby courses ($). The renovated room was a plus, but otherwise disappointing in terms of activities offered; the buffet always served the same dishes. Luckily, we had the à la carte restaurants in the evenings. The staff were rarely smiling or friendly. At the beach, we were constantly bothered by vendors. Be careful with photos; they cost over US$100. The ocean was full of seaweed. Mexico is clearly superior in comparison.

Beautiful hotel, very welcoming! Good food, you can eat at the à la carte restaurant every evening! Even if you book your meals at a late hour, you can still arrive earlier for dinner! You can arrive early, but never late for your reserved time.

Quiet hotel, little entertainment. Generous buffet. Excellent service in the lobby but much less attentive at the buffets. Plenty of chairs on the beach, lots of shade!
