The Melia Cayo Guillermo is a beautiful, superior hotel located directly on the stunning Cayo Guillermo beach, approximately 50 km from Cayo Coco International Airport. The beach is the Melia Cayo Guillermo's main attraction, featuring shaded private cabanas and a lookout tower on a walkway over the water. The beach offers a secluded atmosphere and the underwater world is breathtaking. Melia is renowned for its refined culinary offerings, with numerous restaurants serving high-quality, prestigious cuisine with a variety of delicious dishes to suit all tastes. Enjoy succulent tropical cocktails and the best national and international drinks at its bars. Finally, relax by the magnificent lagoon-style pool with its bridges, floating gardens, and a terrace offering hydromassage jets.
The staff is highly praised for their friendliness and warm welcome. The beach is beautiful, clean, and ideal for swimming, and the hotel grounds are also very attractive and well-maintained with lush vegetation. Furthermore, the food is generally good and varied, especially in the à la carte restaurants, and the overall cleanliness of the establishment is frequently highlighted. However, it is sometimes mentioned that the rooms are considered dated and in need of renovation, with sporadic comments regarding the condition of the amenities.

Meh, I've seen better.
Bof déjà vu mieux
This resort caters to local Cubans. They pay less than we do and receive better service. When they were there, we got a bit more food, but they have no respect. They eat everything and waste food. There's no entertainment, little to no hot water, and the facilities are outdated. We were supposed to have two à la carte restaurants, and we had to insist to get at least one.
More...

All-inclusive resort that doesn't know its own services
It was impossible to get any answers from the staff. They knew nothing, as if the all-inclusive portion of the hotel was managed externally. There are no restaurants on the resort grounds. There's no running water in the rooms, and the toilets in the common areas are out of order. The snack bar is closed most of the time, with no way of knowing when it will be open. The buffet hours are not respected. The hotel welcomes locals. During our week there, the locals were incredibly disrespectful to us, cutting in line, emptying the trays at the buffet, and pushing children to get first. I was even swum over in the pool. A horrible experience.

Beautiful beach, fantastic staff
Plage magnifique, personnel fantastique
Third visit to this hotel, and still just as pleasant. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with few tourists—mostly Cubans and a few Russians—and practically no Canadians. I particularly appreciate being the only Canadian in the hotel; it's a change of scenery. The site is currently being renovated, but everything is clean and well-maintained. The beach is huge, practically empty, with an excellent selection of lounge chairs and palapas—perfect for relaxing in peace. The dive center is nearby, depending on the weather. As for food, the offer is limited due to supply (as is often the case in Cuba), but it's always well-presented and tasty. The staff is wonderful and attentive, which adds a lot to the experience. One small downside: some guests let their plastic cups fly away, which is a shame for the cleanliness of the site. But overall, I really appreciate the change of scenery this place offers.
More...

A Real gem for the beach and the staff
A Real gem for the beach and the staff
Previously Melia Cayo Guillermo, re opened dec 2024.
I did visited it in also in 2019, and again now in april 2025.
It was closed for a while , almost a year, and staff worked very hard to clean it up.
DIVE CENTER few steps away ;-)
Very quiet, not a lot of customer during my stay
Great for :
Beach is amazing, long, clean, seaweed is pickup every morning, new beach chairs.
Long walks possibles in both directions with amazing sand.
Pool is great, clean, and cute with little bridges
Staff is absolutely amazing, kind, smiling and hard working. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome. ( Yurguy and his team )
Lobby is clean
Looby bar has a good drink selection
Pool bar is 24h
Bedroom clean and smell nice, with new AC unit and new mini fridge
Massages are amazing at good price, with a twist of physio therapy ( Carlos )
Okay / Need improvements :
Music a bit too loud at the pool in my opinion
Front desk / no one has no change , difficult to find change to tip the staff
Bathtub in my bedroom is old , need replacement
Missing toaster / toast / eggs / potatoes in breakfast
Food are expected for Cuba, bring your favorite essentials seasonnings
Need more groundskeepers picking up flying out plastic cups ( very windy week)
Got a wifi ticket 4h duration, for free, can use it in the lobby. Renewable on demand.
Safes in the room are supposed to work with same key as main door, but it won't work. Bring a small lock and store your valuables in your luggage.
Not great for :
Public bathrooms : Very clean but sometimes missing toilet paper and are not flushing all the time ( I had to switch stalls )
Plumbing might need attention and water flow seems to be momentarily cutted off.
Also the doors knobs not closing properly.
Conclusion :
This is not a recent built resort, actually it is probably 25 years old.
So don't expect the same fancyness as competitors
But staff makes it very enjoyable.
Will go again as it ticks my bucket list for great beach and dive center accessible daily,
IMPORTANT :
Bring Change ( small bills for tips ) USD or CAD.
Bring lock for luggage in replacement of safebox
Bring your essential seasonnings

This hotel is not a good reference and is not ready to receive external customers. It is not very clean and needs improvement. It is unclean.
From you we are told that the hotel is in Cayo Coco false information it is located in Cayo Guillermo In addition to bad service with travel agency no coffee service at breakfast, we have to go ourselves to get a coffee at the snack bar or at the reception to have a coffee, I think that it is normal to have a coffee at breakfast at the same time as eating a very flat omelet on our plate without having toast because there is no toaster and sliced bread Now let's talk about two dinners à la carte, very poorly organized, we are presented with a menu telling us that at least 4 choices out of 6 are not available 1st dinner à la carte, 1 hour of waiting before receiving the main meal my daughter a fish hard as a rock inedible and me chicken also hard, we left without eating and not in a good mood. Travel representative at the hotel not very good at service, what a surprise upon arrival at our hotel 11:30 p.m. Sunday evening NO SUITCASES we received them on Monday 3:00 p.m. Monday, the day after our arrival. The staff is very kind, they do their best to help the few guests present during our stay, we were between a maximum of 40 guests in the complex. Tren
More...
