Riu Ocho Rios

Our room wasn't ready, and when it finally was, we weren't notified, so we waited three hours for nothing. Upon arrival, there was a strong musty smell, as if the room hadn't been used in a long time. The toilet wouldn't flush, the electrical fixtures were malfunctioning, as was the USB port (the plugs wouldn't stay in), there was rust on the light fixtures, and the lock on the patio door was only half-screwed in. It took maintenance an hour to replace the toilet pump and two of the electrical fixtures. So, from our arrival at the hotel until we could finally relax, we were left with a good four hours. This is not what I expect as a guest at a 5-star RIU.

Notre chambre n'était pas prête, quand elle l'a été nous n'avons pas été avisé donc attendue 3 hrs pour rien. à l'arrivée a la chambre, il y avait une forte odeur de moisissures comme si ca faisait longtemps qu'elle n'avait pas été utilisée, la toilette ne flushait pas, les fixtures électriques était dysfonctionnelles ainsi que le port USB les fiches ne tenaient pas dedans, il y avait de la rouilles sur les luminaires et la barrure sur la porte de patio était à moitié vissé. Ca l'a pris 1 hr à la maintenance pour nous changer la pompe de toilette ainsi que 2 des fixtures électriques. Donc entre notre arrivée à l'hôtel et le moment ou nous avons pu commencé à relaxer, on peut compter un bon 4 hrs. Ce n'est pas a ce que je m'attends quand je suis une invitée dans un RIU 5 étoiles.

A magnificent site that we thoroughly enjoyed. Palapas would be very welcome as shade is hard to find.

Located approximately 1.5 to 2 hours from the airport. The hotel is well-appointed and very clean. Beautiful beach with no seaweed. Good à la carte restaurant (reservations required 48 hours in advance via the Band app), open almost every night before shows. Would return.

The food at the buffet was always the same. Very little fruit! They were out of coffee the first few days. We were with our baby in a stroller and were repeatedly given very rude comments because we let the baby sleep in the stroller while we ate. They said the stroller was supposedly in the way, even though it was right up against the table with plenty of room to move around… My father, who is in a wheelchair, had his wheelchair moved against the wall, even though it was folded up against the table and wasn't obstructing anyone's movement. If he had been alone, he wouldn't have been able to access his wheelchair; I was the one who had to bring it back to him. A huge lack of respect! The staff isn't very welcoming; it was rare that anyone would greet them when they passed. My son was yelled at for taking a paper towel from another table. I don't recommend this place, especially for a supposedly 5-star hotel.

La nourriture était toujours la même au buffet. Très peu de fruits! Manquais de café les premiers jours. Nous étions avec notre bébé dans une poussette et on sait fait parler a plusieurs reprises de façon très bête à cause qu’on laissait bébé dormir dans sa poussette pendant qu’on mangeait et la poussette dérangeait supposément alors qu’elle était collé à la table avec de l’espace pour circuler … mon père en fauteuil roulant on n’a prit son fauteuil pour le mettre collé au mur alors qu’il était plié collé à la table, ça ne dérangeait personne pour circuler. Il aurait été seul, il n’aurait pas été capable d’avoir accès à son fauteuil, c’est moi qui lui a rapporte son fauteuil. Gros manque de respect! le personnel n’est pas très accueillant, c’était rare qu’on se faisait saluer lorsqu’on les croisait. Mon garçon sait fait crier dessus à cause qu’il a prit une essuis tout à une autre table. Je ne recommande pas pour un supposé 5 étioles.

Very clean, beautiful beach, good food.
