Guests appreciate the beautiful, clean beach, the friendliness and warmth of the staff, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel, from the rooms to the pools. The ideal location, close to the city center and markets, is also a major plus, as are the excellent value for money and the quality of the à la carte restaurants, especially the Mexican one. However, the buffet food is sometimes considered repetitive. Rooms in need of renovation and uncomfortable mattresses are occasionally mentioned, as are sporadic issues with towel availability.

My in-laws swear by this hotel, and we decided to treat them by going with them. I'd never stayed in a 3-star hotel before, but the reviews were generally good. I go to Cuba once or twice a year, so I know what to expect and I'm not picky. But what a bad decision! I've never been so eager to get home. Pros: Beautiful sea. Plenty of palapas and pool chairs for everyone. Friendly staff. Cons: The hotel is neglected. Sewage smell wafted into our room (342) through the ventilation vents. Sewage smell on the tiny, unfurnished balcony. The buffet was the same every day and inedible. The sargassum seaweed hadn't been collected, resulting in a very unpleasant rotten egg smell. The available drinks were beer, mojitos (when mint was available), and undrinkable wine. No entertainment or activities other than bingo in the late afternoon and a "semblance" of a show in the evening. In short: if you're used to traveling in 2- or 3-star hotels, I imagine you'll be satisfied. But if you're like me and usually travel to 4.5-star hotels in Cuba and 4- or 5-star hotels in the Dominican Republic or Mexico, you're going to hate it and curse it all week, lol. Out of more than forty trips to the Caribbean and about twenty to Cuba, this is the cheapest trip I've ever taken ($745) and the most awful. It's not even worth that price. As for mosquitoes, yes, there were some, and I got bitten, but so far I'm perfectly fine. We made my in-laws happy; that's the only positive thing I'll remember from this trip. My good deed for the year is done, lol.
Mes beaux-parents ne jurent que par cet hotel et nous avons décidé de leur faire plaisir en les accompagnant. Je n'étais jamais allé dans un 3* mais les commentaires etaient sommes tout bons. Je vais à Cuba 1 à 2 fois par année alors je sais à quoi m'attendre et je ne fais pas ma difficile. Mais quelle mauvaise décision, je n'ai jamais eu autant hâte de revenir chez moi. Points forts : Belle mer. Assez de palapas et de chaise à la piscine pour tous. Personnel gentil.
More... Less...Points faibles: hotel laissé à l'abandon. Odeur d'égout qui entrait dans notre chambre (342) par les trappes d'aeration. Odeur d'égout sur le minuscule balcon sans ameublement. Buffet identique à tous les jours et pas mangeable. Les sargasses n'étaient pas ramassées donc odeur d'oeufs pourris très désagréable. Les boissons disponibles étaient bière, mojito (quand la menthe était disponible) et vin pas buvable. Aucune animation/activité outre un bingo en fin pm et le "semblant" de spectacle en soirée.
Conclusion : si vous êtes habitués à voyager dans des 2* ou 3* j'imagine que vous serez satisfait. Mais si vous êtes comme moi et voyagez habituellement dans des 4.5* à Cuba et dans des 4*-5* en republique ou au mexique, vous allez détester et maudire toute la semaine lol. Sur plus qu'une quarantaine de voyages dans les caraibes et une vingtaine à Cuba, c'est le voyage le moins cher que j'ai fait (745$) et le plus horrible. Ça ne vaut même pas ce prix. Question moustiques, oui il y en avait et je me suis fait piquer mais jusqu'à maintenant je suis en parfaite forme. Nous avons fait plaisirs à mes beaux-parents, c'est le seul aspect que je retiens de ce voyage. Ma BA de l'année est faite lol.

Aging hotel

Food and room service were adequate. The stairs were wobbly and some passageways were blocked. They urgently need repairs. The pool was clean with plenty of lounge chairs. The loud music was very disturbing. There was no red wine for five days. The water was lukewarm when it wasn't cold. The internet was unreliable. The staff were very friendly. There were a few mosquitoes. They were small and very fast. The hotel is well located for exploring the city.
Nourriture at chambre correcte. Escaliers branlants et passages fermés. Urgent besoin de réparations. Piscine propres avec suffisamment de chaises. Musique forte très dérangeante. Pas de vin rouge pendant 5 jours. Eau tiède quand elle n'était pas froide. Internet instable.
