Discover Disney cruises through the adventure of a young family who decided to treat themselves to a truly memorable getaway!

Nikita and Jean-Philippe are parents in their early thirties who love to travel. Last January, they were able to share their love of travel with their two young sons, Logan (6 years old) and Jack (2 years old). They chose to spend a week aboard the Fantasy, sailing to Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line's private island. Refurbished in 2012, the ship can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers and has a total of 1,250 cabins. The young couple opted for a Veranda cabin with an ocean view, which, according to Nikita, was the perfect choice for their family.

Swimming pools and water slides

The onboard pools are very accessible and safe for children, as several lifeguards are on duty. In fact, the boys' parents greatly appreciated the safety measures in place on the ship. According to them, it was easy to keep an eye on the children from the chairs located near the pools and slides. The family, along with their in-laws, had a lot of fun on the Aquaduck, a large, transparent water slide that runs along each side of the ship. They also loved the ice cream machines located near the pools, which they could enjoy whenever they wanted. It was a truly enjoyable experience!

Restaurants

The whole family loved the quality of the food served on board. They ate very well all week and didn't even feel like trying the à la carte restaurants. Among the themed restaurants, they particularly enjoyed the Animator's Palace and the meal at the Royal Court. The Animator's Palace offered the family a personalized experience with excellent guest interaction. At the Royal Court, they dined like royalty while enjoying an atmosphere straight out of a Disney fairytale. They were treated to a real feast!

Activities on board

The onboard entertainment is impressive for both parents and children. The young family saw two musicals, Disney Believe and Aladdin, which are well-suited for children. Although the performances were in English, the young travelers had a great time and still understood the story. A wide variety of characters were on board, such as Goofy, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, the Disney princesses, and the Chipmunks, so people could enjoy photo and autograph sessions. Nikita and her family also experienced Star Wars Day at Sea, an event that runs from morning to night. Dressed as Star Wars characters, they participated in several activities and ended their day with a fireworks display presented by Disney.

The stopovers

The family made several stops, including George Town (Cayman Islands), Cozumel (Mexico), Falmouth (Jamaica), and Castaway Cay (Bahamas). Many activities were offered to cruise passengers at each destination. Parents and children loved Castaway Cay. Everything was easily accessible, and there were plenty of umbrellas on the beach. The pirate ship with its water slides was a favorite activity for the children.

Young parents highly recommend Disney cruises to families planning a trip. According to the mother, the experience was exceptional from beginning to end. She cherishes wonderful memories of discovering the world with her children and partner. Ultimately, it's priceless!
